Prague Prague Castle - Prague

Prague Castle is the biggest ancient castle in the world. It’s 570 meters high and 130 meters wide, and is home to the crown jewels of the Bohemian Kingdom.

It was built in the 9th century and later became the first convent in Bohemia. It has been used for hundreds of years except during the Hussite Wars (1420 to 1434) and for a few decades after the war. Even Czech presidents have had their offices in the castle.

Popular tourist attractions in Prague Castle are:

· St. Vitus Cathedral: A cathedral decorated with semi-precious stones that contains the underground tombs of Czech kings. It took nearly six centuries to build and the final phase of construction didn’t end until 1873 to 1929

· The Chapel of Saint Wenceslas: It holds the most important monuments of Czech expressive arts. The walls are closed (which is unusual for the era that it was built in) and are covered with stones of amethyst, chalcedony, carnelian, and chrysoprase.

· Lobkovic Palace: Original home to the Pernstein family in the mid-16th century, and is now home to Czech history monuments.

· The Royal Garden with Ball Hall

· The Royal Summer Palace of Queen Anne or Belvedere
