No trip to Paris would be complete without a stop in one or more of its many cafes for some coffee or a light meal as well as a great deal of people watching. But this city where haute cuisine originated and where many chefs from around the world come to train has no end to the delights you can find related to food.
For a breakfast to remember, try walking into one of the patisserie in your hotel’s neighbourhood. Your nose will thank you, as will your stomach after you’ve tasted a number of the fresh baked goods for sale. Or, try a local market for all of the gourmet fixings you could imagine for a picnic in one of the city’s many parks.
For a more traditional restaurant setting in Paris, you have a virtually unlimited smorgasbord of choices. Many restaurants will offer a fixed price menu, especially in tourist areas. These can be a good bargain, but you might need to figure in the cost of wine separately and you might still want to stray occasionally from them in order to try more exotic dishes. If you want to try some of the international cuisine that Paris is famous for, take a stroll down the rue de la Huchette and the intersecting rue Xavier-Privas, where your senses will delight in the smells from these streets that are literally filled with restaurants.
