New York Transport

New York is not the place to think about renting a car by any means. In fact, even the people who live in the city tend to use mass transit instead of automobiles. If indeed you choose to drive, you will find yourself paying exorbitant rates for parking if you are even able to find it. For the traveler, mass transit is the best alternative. It’s cheaper, you don’t have to worry about parking, and most importantly, you don’t have to be concerned about traffic patterns. In big cities such as New York, mass transit is the preferred means of transportation by residents and visitors.

New York offers several forms of public transportation. The first is public buses that will get you around the city at a much cheaper cost than the price of gasoline and parking. Of course, y9u won’t avoid the traffic jams, but you won’t have to worry about driving in them, either. Ferries are also available where the need to cross bodies of water exists, with the most well known being the Staten Island Ferry that links Staten Island to Manhattan. New York also has a subway system, and for those who wish to avoid the inner-city traffic, this might be convenient because of the underground travel concept. Trains are also available for those who need to travel greater distances than within the city of New York.

Whichever method you choose, be sure to check where you need to go first, and if you’re budget-minded, use the taxis as your last alternative.
