London Restaurants

Many people may still believe that British cuisine is a contradiction in terms. But they would be missing out on a number of delicious meals that are to be had, especially in the capital city. Not only can you find an amazing array of international fare, but you can find some authentically British foods as well.

London is a truly international city, with citizens from all over the world. This is reflected in their restaurant industry as well, with as many Indian, Mideastern and Asian restaurants as common as the more Western types of food you may be more familiar with.

But you shouldn’t miss the chance to try some traditional British food as well. If you want to start the day out like many British people still do, you’ll be eating a breakfast that includes eggs, sausage, grilled tomatoes and fried bread. If you stay at a bed and breakfast, this will likely be what you’re served. Otherwise, ask at your hotel where to find it.

Visiting a pub is where you will likely be dining with locals as you eat a hearty sandwich, some fish and chips, bangers and mash (sausage and mashed potatoes) or a bowl of chowder as you drink a pint. You might also like to try a Cornish pasty – a baked bread pastry filled with vegetables, or a Scotch egg – a boiled egg served on a plate with a type of breaded sausage.
