Barcelona Attractions

Barcelona is often described as having an ideal location. It is nestled into the last valley of the Pyrenees before you get to the sunny shores of the warm Mediterranean. It also has one of the best preserved gothic city centres in Spain that has been seamlessly and tastefully blended with the best of modern architecture. Add to this the green slopes and parks that surround the city, and the newly developed pRomenade along the beach and it is easy to get sucked into this enchanting city.

However, if you are picturing a tranquil pastoral atmosphere then think again. Barcelona is one of the world’s fashion and style capitals and much of the bustling economy is centred on design. Barcelona also has many of Spain’s most famous and respected museums and art galleries, as well as a great theatre. The spirit of the city has been described as a mix between Paris and New York.

And then there is the fact that you are not really in Spain. Catalunya is now the wealthiest of Spain’s autonomous regions with its own language, traditions and proud history. Combine this political background with the cafes and bars that are found throughout the city and it is easy to see why Barcelona is regarded by many as the hippest city in Europe.
